Peak Performance EMDR is a sub-specialty within EMDR. EMDR was originally developed with a particular focus on people who experienced symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Since, EMDR has been successfully used to treat a variety of issues and traumatic events, both "big-T (those considered to be large traumatic events such as physical or sexual assault) and "small-t" (those considered by most to be smaller traumas that in fact, have a very detrimental and long-lasting impact on people, such as childhood disappointments or humiliating experiences).
Issues and experiences of traumatic events known to be successfully addressed by EMDR other than peak performance include:
anxiety
intrusive negative self-talk
overwhelming fears and phobias
physical abuse/assault
sexual assault/incest
abortion
grief and loss
verbal abuse
hauntingly humiliating and embarrassing moments of the past
